Mayor Kirk Caldwell to Commemorate 30 Years with Proclamation

HONOLULU (July 31, 2013) – Honolulu's Mayor Kirk Caldwell has proclaimed this day “Attention Plus Care 30th Anniversary Day” in recognition of three decades of laudable full-service home care services. To commemorate Attention Plus Care's 30th year anniversary, the company has unveiled a commemorative logo included on promotional material and website. This locally owned and operated company cares for individuals of all ages ranging from medically fragile children to adults with chronic care disease management needs, enabling individuals to age-in-place and receive care in their own homes.

Thirty years ago, Carol Samples, RN, BSN saw a growing need for home care in Hawaii and formed Attention Plus Care with her husband, Karl Samples, PhD. She opened her business in a conservative office located in Makiki, while managing all areas of the office. Now, she is President and CEO, with nine members of her management team working under her.

Over three decades, the company pioneered in achieving accolades, innovative technology development, community-based offerings, and personalized home care services. In the 1980's, the company participated in the statewide Nursing Home Without Walls program that aided home care for the Aged, Blind, and Disabled. Later, the company developed their own nursing program for medically fragile children and the developmentally delayed population on Oahu. By 1998, the company launched an extensive caregiving training program for clients of all ages to include orientation, examinations and proficiency demonstrations. By year 2000, the company launched a proprietary database software program called CarePlanet™. By 2009, Attention Plus Care began community-based educational seminars called “Aging In Hawaii”, to promote healthy living, awareness, preparedness, and the values of aging-inplace for our Kūpuna.

Today, Attention Plus Care is the oldest and largest privately owned, Hawaii State Licensed and Joint Commission Accredited Home Health Agency.
