FACING THE REALITIES OF CARE FOR A LOVED ONE AT-HOME
Learn more about home care services & safety tips for family caregivers

Honolulu, Hawaii Attention Plus Care understands the challenges of a crises when a loved one is discharged from the hospital. Family members struggle to coordinate care, manage prescription medications, and drive to doctor appointments, as well balancing a full time job. In most cases, the family is unaware of home health care agencies that can help. Attention Plus Care is sponsoring "Home Care & Equipment Safety" and "Home Care and Medication Safety" workshops in December and January. The workshops are free and open to the public.

The workshops are an opportunity to learn about home care services that can assist with personal and health care needs for a loved one at-home, and offer respite for the family. The workshops will identify the top ten questions that families should ask when hiring a home care agency to ensure high quality care and safety.

Home Care & Equipment Safety Workshop will discuss the benefits of home care and provide family caregivers with equipment safety tips for an individual who uses a wheelchair, walker, or cane.

Home Care & Medication Management Workshop will discuss the benefits of home care and information on how to manage medications at home in order to keep loved ones safe and prevent missed doses.

"What is important to remember is that hiring a caregiver can offer quality health care, and ensure peace of mind for family members as well," said Eileen Phillips, Client Services Director of Attention Plus Care and a Licensed Registered Nurse. "Services may include meal preparation, light housekeeping, shopping, personal care, transportation, and companionship. Most importantly, the safety of your loved one will be monitored. Some caregivers accompany clients to doctors' appointments or on other errands. More complex needs would require a licensed nurse to assist with tube feeding, medically fragile pediatric care, and mediation administration."
